Pentagon Chief Rejects D.C. Mayor Bowser’s Request for National Guard to Stop Illegal Migrant Relocation

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin is rejecting D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser’s request to mobilize the National Guard to thwart the influx of illegal migrants being sent to the capitol from states like Texas and Florida.

The Pentagon chief’s rejection of the D.C. mayor’s proposal was reported by Reuters on Friday.

“U.S. Defense Secretary Austin had rejected a request by the D.C. mayor for National Guard troops to help with migrants being sent into the city from Texas, saying that it would hurt troop readiness, a U.S. official says,” Reuters reported.

Texas has been relocating the illegal migrants as of April, which was announced by Governor Greg Abbott.

Abbott announced plans to bus the illegals to the United States capitol to protest the “Biden border disaster,” as he described it. “To help local officials whose communities are being overwhelmed by hordes of illegal immigrants who are being dropped off by the administration,” Abbott said at a press conference near the U.S. border with Mexico, “Texas is providing charter buses to send these illegal immigrants who have been dropped off by the Biden administration to Washington, D.C.”

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has also allocated funding to send illegal aliens to the nation’s capitol.

“It is not the responsibility of Floridians to subsidize aliens to reside in our state unlawfully; we did not consent to Biden’s open-borders agenda,” his office said in April.

“A spokesperson for DeSantis’ office clarified to Fox News Digital that the transport of illegal immigrants out of Florida was included in the governor’s recent budget recommendations,” Fox News reported. “The budget proposed by the State Legislature includes $12 million for the Florida Department of Transportation to remove illegal immigrants from Florida and relocating them.”

“The legislature delivered on this priority, along with many of the governor’s other priorities to protect Floridians from the harmful impacts of the Biden border crisis,” a spokesperson for DeSantis said.

Meanwhile, the Democratic-led Congress has authorized that D.C. Mayor Bowser, who once unlawfully dubbed the capitol a “sanctuary city,” may directly request increasing the National Guard presence. Bowser had intentionally limited the National Guard presence on January 6.

“Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser told federal law enforcement to stand down just one day before a mob of Trump supporters breached the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, smashing windows, entering the chambers, and forcing lawmakers and congressional staff inside into lockdown,” the Federalist reported on January 6, 2021.

“To be clear, the District of Columbia is not requesting other federal law enforcement personnel and discourages any additional deployment without immediate notification to, and consultation with, MPD if such plans are underway,” Bowser wrote in a letter to acting U.S. Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen, acting Secretary of Defense Chris Miller, and Secretary of the Army Ryan D. McCarthy.

“According to Bowser, D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department in coordination with the U.S. Park Police, Capitol Police, and Secret Sevice were well-equipped to handle whatever problems could come up during the Trump rallies planned” for January 6, the report added.

It appears that Mayor Bowser’s tune has changed when it comes to handling illegal aliens pouring into the country as a direct result of Biden’s border crisis.
