The Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg, is still on leave while there are shortages of products in the country, according to Politico.

Buttigieg’s office explained that the secretary has been on paternity leave for almost two months to spend time with her husband and their two newborn babies, so he plans to continue providing support to them in the coming weeks. However, the office had not previously announced his time off.

Buttigieg and the product shortage

The information comes as dozens of large ships remained stuck in Los Angeles for more than a month waiting to dock and unload goods, including toasters, sneakers, bicycles and automobiles.

According to a New York Post report, the shortage of truckers has also prevented companies from distributing supplies across the country.

In fact, as the vacations approach, experts warned that the cost of children’s toys has risen by as much as 10 percent, and noted that many in-demand gifts are likely to sell out soon.
