THE EDITORIAL BOARD is pleased to welcome professor, political scientist, and writer Luis Fleischman, who joins El American as a guest writer, in line with the partnership with the Interamerican Institute for Democracy (IID) for the defense of the values of freedom.

An expert on political and security issues in Latin America and the Middle East, Fleischman has gained extensive experience advising high-ranking government officials and members of Congress. Among them was the presidential campaign of Mitt Romney, which he advised on Latin American issues in the run-up to the 2012 election.

He has also served as a senior advisor to the Hemispheric Security Project of the Center for Security Policy (CSP) and as co-editor of The Americas Report.

Fleischman is the author of the book Latin America in the Post-Chavez Era: A Threat to U.S. Security, in which he analyzed the Bolivarian Revolution of late Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez and the wave of ideological influence that led to the growth of leftist authoritarianism in the region.

He is currently a professor of sociology and co-founder of the Palm Beach Center for Democracy & Policy Research at Palm Beach State College.

With Fleischman’s knowledge and talent, El American advances in its purpose of becoming the main media reference for the Hispanic community.
