Teenage Bottlerocket announced a pop punk concert in Florida with the special feature that vaccinated people will be able to pay $18 tickets while the unvaccinated will have to pay $999.99.

The punk concert in Florida is scheduled for June 26 at VFW Post 39 in St. Petersburg. Ticket buyers will be required to present their ID and also their COVID-19 vaccination registration card.

“You will need to have had your second shot of Pfizer or Moderna, or your single shot of Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine on or before 6/12/2021,” the band said on its website, adding that if purchasers do not “bring their vaccination card, they will not be allowed entry at this price.”

“Note that all staff, volunteers, and band members will be vaccinated. Also know if you buy one of these advance tickets and show up without your vaccination card or government issued photo id, you won’t be let in at this price, you will need to pay the remaining $981.99 to enter or go back and get your card. There will be NO REFUNDS,” the statement said.

“We are NOT telling you what to do here, we are making a business decision and letting the market decide. If someone wants to come in unvaccinated, they will scare off a large number of patrons and will need to pay the difference” the band noted.

Ray Carlisle, lead singer and guitarist for one of the bands, Teenage Bottlerocket, supports the vaccine card requirement: “We’re all vaccinated. We encourage everyone to get vaccinated so we can see them in the pit,” he said.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in April signed an executive order waiving the requirement that people show proof of having been vaccinated against COVID-19.

“It’s completely unacceptable for either the government or the private sector to impose upon you the requirement that you show proof of vaccine to just simply be able to participate in normal society.”,” DeSantis said in March.

For months, the governor has made it clear that there would be no coronavirus vaccination mandate as he leaves it up to Floridians to decide if they want to get vaccinated.
