Groups of pro-abortion activists gathered Wednesday outside the Supreme Court, where a hearing is being held that could determine the future of abortion in the country and could overturn the Roe v. Wade case.
Holding a banner reading “we are taking abortion pills forever” and repeating pro-abortion chants, a group of women, members of the organization Shout Your Abortion swallowed alleged abortion drugs in protest.
In another video shared by the same organization along with the hashtag #AbortionPillsForever, the feminist group is heard shouting “abortion pills are in our hands and we won’t stop,” before consuming the pills in front of the crowd.
The future of abortion in the U.S.
The Supreme Court, today with a conservative majority, will hear on Wednesday the arguments for and against the anti-abortion law in Mississippi, which prohibits abortions after 15 weeks of gestation.
According to Senator James Lankford, Republican from Oklahoma, the highest American Court will evaluate the Roe v. Wade ruling in depth.
“I believe this court will take up the legal argument, will take up the scientific examination and will relook at Roe v Wade in a whole new way,” Lankford said at a press conference.
The Court is expected to issue the decision by the end of June 2022, a few months after the midterm elections that will define the shape of Congress.
