The controversial Virginia professor who is promoting the normalization of pedophilia, Allyn Walker, was placed on administrative leave, by Old Dominion University (ODU). Walker, who self-identifies as “non-binary,” believes that society should not condemn those who are sexually attracted to children.

“Reactions to Dr. Walker’s research and book have led to concerns for their safety and that of the campus. Furthermore, the controversy over Dr. Walker’s research has disrupted the campus and community environment and is interfering with the institution’s mission of teaching and learning,” the university said in a statement.

ODU President Brian O. Hemphill addressed the situation, arguing that child sexual abuse should not be accepted in society. “I want to state in the strongest terms possible that child sexual abuse is morally wrong and has no place in our society.”

The situation comes after, in an interview with Prostasia, Professor Walker discussed his book A Long Dark Shadow: Minor Attracted People and Their Quest for Dignity. In the publication, he makes use of the term MAP, which stands for Minor-Attracted Person. It is a recently known social movement, made up of people who seek to differentiate themselves from pedophiles.

“I use the term Minor-Attracted Person or MAP in the title and throughout the book for multiple reasons. First of all, because I think it’s important to use terminology for groups that members of that group want others to use for them. MAP advocacy groups like B4UAct have advocated for use of the term, and they’ve advocated for it primarily because it’s less stigmatizing than other terms like pedophile. A lot of people when they hear the term pedophile, they automatically assume that it means a sex offender. And that isn’t true,” Walker said during the interview.
