December 12 was a very sad day for the Hispanic community because of the tragic passing of Vicente Fernández, an idol of generations and the greatest exponent of Ranchera. Fernandez, 81, after being hospitalized for 128 days following a fall at his ranch in Guadalajara, in the Mexican state of Jalisco.

The news was painful and shocked not only Fernández’s family and friends but also the entire music world and his millions of fans. However, woke social media users and activists took advantage of his death to hurl expletives and insults against the late icon of Mexican music.

Hundreds of users on social media networks—who in their biographies declare themselves believers of communism, followers of the BLM movement, members of the LGBT community, and other supporters of leftist ideas—attacked Vicente Fernández calling him “homophobic,” “racist,” “machista,” and even “pedophile” on the day of his death.

Insults against Vicente Fernández

Several users used the abbreviation POS (piece of sh*t) to refer to Vicente Fernández. Some even insinuated that the Mexican’s soul went to hell because of some of the controversies he was involved in during his lifetime.

“#VicenteFernandez will be singing to the devil for being a homophobic, racist and misogynistic POS,” wrote one user on Twitter.

Another user, in addition to attacking Fernandez, also criticized the people who paid their condolences and highlighted the great musical work of the Mexican. “Vicente Fernandez’s death has everyone praising a dead racist homophobic asshole.”

A “communist”, Black Lives Matter supporter and “Anti-Tankie” posted a tweet with the text, “Me dancing on Vicente Fernandez’s grave knowing he was a racist homophone [sic]” accompanied by a GIF.

“Finally the homophobe, pervert and pedophile Vicente Fernandez is dead, one less piece of sh*t in this world,” said another user

The number of tweets insulting the late artist was such that Cuban-American strategist Giancarlo Sopo collected and published a collage with the attacks against the historic singer.

Some progressives hate Vicente Fernandez to the point of wishing him the worst, even on the day of his death for some “controversial” statements the Mexican singer made during his lifetime.

Now, it is quite strange that progressives call Fernandez a “racist” being that the singer-songwriter once harshly criticized former President Donald Trump during a concert in Ciudad de Juarez in 2016.

“There is a candidate for the presidency of the United States who is saying many ugly things about Mexicans. The day I meet him, I’m going to spit in his face, I’m going to curse him and I’m going to tell him what he has never been told in his whole life,” the singer said.

The career of the multi-award-winning Fernández lasted more than 55 years. His talent, powerful voice and more than eighty albums allowed him to sell some 75 million records and win several international awards, including two Grammy Awards, eight Latin Grammy Awards, and fourteen Lo Nuestro Awards.

According to Bandamax, in 2002 the Mexican received the title of “Person of the Year” by the Latin Recording Academy for his artistic accomplishments and for his donation to the National Hispanic Scholarship Fund. Fernandez also had the audacity to compliment his artistic career by appearing in as many as 30 films since the 1970s. He also has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Beyond his personal life, his beliefs and his ideas, Vicente Fernandez was a great artist, one of the most important in Latin America and his death has left a great sorrow for millions of people.
