Rachel Levine’s nomination to become the assistant secretary of Department of Health and Human Services is becoming increasingly uphill as Republican senators expose her inabilities and radical leftist agenda. This time, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) confronted Levine during a Senate confirmation hearing for advocating for sex “reassignment” on children.

“Genital mutilation has been nearly universally condemned. Genital mutilation has been condemned by the WHO, the United Nations Children’s Fund, the United Nations Population Fund,” Sen. Paul said on his opening statement. “According to the WHO, genital mutilation is recognized internationally as a violation of human rights,” he added.

For Paul, American culture is currently normalizing the idea that minors can receive hormones to prevent the biological development of their biological gender.

“The American College of Pediatricians reports,” Senator Paul elaborated, “that 80 to 95% of prepubertal children with gender dysphoria will experience resolution by late adolescence if not exposed to medical intervention and social affirmation.”

Paul, who is an ophthalmologist, directed a question to Levine about whether he believes minors are capable of making such a major decision. To which Levine only responded that what he calls “transgender medicine” is a fairly complex field with “robust research,” and that if he were to become Assistant Secretary of Health he would like to work with Senator Rand Paul.

In the face of the obvious evasion, the Republican senator repeated much more specifically his question, “Do you support the government intervening to override the parent’s consent to give a child puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and or amputation surgery of breasts and genitalia? You have said that you’re willing to accelerate the protocols for street kids.”

After the tense moment, Paul expressed that what alarms him is the nominee’s unwillingness to say that minors should not, under any circumstances, make decisions to amputate their breasts or amputate their genitals.

Levine was only willing to reply, “Senator, transgender medicine is a very complex and nuanced field.”

Levine has advocated radical chemical treatments on young people and children, bypassing their parents’ approval. His most recent proposal purports to alter the body’s natural health and dynamics by injecting a compound that makes the pituitary gland less sensitive to that hormone and, in doing so, essentially halts puberty.

Rand Paul exposes Democrat hypocrisy

Faced with Levine’s refusal to answer the questions, the senator set out to expose the double standard the left has applied on the hydroxychloroquine issue and now with these radical treatments.

“For most of the history of medicine, we wouldn’t let you have a cut sewn up in the ER, but you’re willing to let a minor take things that prevent their puberty and you think they get that back? You give a woman testosterone enough that she grows a beard, you think she’s going to go back looking like a woman when you stop the testosterone?” launched Paul. The Republican pointed out that none of the drugs Levine wants to use have been approved for such treatments:

“I find it ironic that the left that went nuts over hydroxychloroquine being used possibly for COVID are not alarmed that these hormones are being used off label. There’s no long-term studies.”
