Although the Taliban assure Joe Biden that they will allow all Americans in Afghanistan to return to the United States, new evidence reveals that they are going to great lengths to prevent this.
There have been many reports from Americans who claim that in order to get to the Kabul airport they must pass through checkpoints full of Taliban who beat, insult and threaten them; and in many cases make them turn back to prevent them from leaving Afghanistan.
Taliban prevent rescue of Americans
A Washington Examiner report reveals how the Taliban taunts Biden and Americans in Afghanistan. An Afghan-American who worked with Rep. Don Bacon’s (R-Neb.) office said the Islamic fundamentalist group was “stirring up trouble as much as they could.”
The man recalled being told by the State Department to go to the Interior Ministry in Kabul, where he was confronted by a Taliban guard who replied, “- Go and tell the State Department to f— themselves.”
The evacuee said he arrived at the airport by escaping during a checkpoint firefight on Aug. 27, a day after the suicide attack that killed 13 American soldiers.
According to the newspaper the Taliban did not want to allow the Afghan-Americans to pass through the checkpoints, even when they had their U.S. passports.
Another story by I-Team reporter Dan Noyes recounts the agony of a family with a 3-year-old American baby. When the child, his father and other family members approached the airport, they were vilified by the Taliban who would not let them take flight.
“They were stopped by a Taliban checkpoint, and they received physical beatings at the gate and they were pushed back where they had to flee and return to a safe house,” the report notes.
According to I-Team the boy and family after communicating with other Americans who are desperate to flee Afghanistan, are turning to other ways to escape without the help of the U.S. government.
The Biden administration has portrayed the Taliban as an equal partner in the evacuation operation. State Department officials stated that the Taliban had guaranteed safe passage to anyone wishing to leave Afghanistan; however it is the Americans themselves in Kabul who disprove them.
One American who contacted Bacon’s deputy chief of staff, Felix Ungerman, said that while trying to reach the airport a Taliban militant opened fire.
Ungerman recounted hearing gunfire in the background and that it was days later when he was able to contact him again, he replied “yes, I’m fine, but what do I do now?”
According to The Examiner the office of California Republican Rep. Mike Garcia had the most success in helping extract Americans from Afghanistan.
“We ended up getting approximately 97 people successfully (…) we were able to do it through our own channels and with people on the ground who were supporting primarily American citizens and people on immigrant visas; otherwise they would have been held up by the State Department bureaucracy,” said
Americans still stranded
Seven of eight California families who traveled in the summer to Afghanistan were able to return to the United States; one of them is still in Kabul.
The seven families managed to escape with the help of the Cajon Valley Union School District and Republican Representative Darrell Issa; now that they are in the U.S., they recounted how they had to escape from the Taliban who made evacuation impossible.
One of the parents told how he ran with his children as gunfire passed overhead. He said the Taliban beat him and blocked checkpoints.
During a press conference in California, the father, who did not give his real name because he still has relatives in Afghanistan, held in his hand a folder that he said contained the documents of 30 people who qualified for a special immigrant visa and who should be in the United States but are still in Afghanistan desperate to escape.
According to Biden there are between 100 and 200 Americans who were left behind when the troops completed their withdrawal on Aug. 31, many of them dual citizens.
The State Department has not yet given an estimate of the number of green card holders or Afghans who helped the U.S. during the war and received a special immigrant visa to live in the United States.
El American obtained exclusive information that private U.S. intelligence and security services are in Afghanistan trying to rescue nationals who are still stranded and do not count on the Biden administration to return to the country.
