The emergency powers granted to NY Governor Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, to the address the pandemic were limited this Tuesday by the state’s legislature.

The decision applies immediately.

The executive powers were set to expire on April 30, 2021; however, current orders will stay in place for a period of 30 days.

Cuomo is under investigation for his handling of the pandemic and the concealment of the number of nursing home deaths. In addition, he has recently been denounced for the sexual harassment claims by three women.

The governor has apologized for his actions that he believes were misunderstood, and has assured that he will cooperate with the investigation of these allegations by the state’s attorney general, Letitia James, also a Democrat.
