The trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard continues, while the controversy over the allegations of violence between them grows. The trial begins its fourth week and has been full of revelations that show the dark side of the actors.
On the one hand, Heard fired her PR team, angered by the headlines that circulated in the media. On the other hand, Depp publicly stated that he considers himself a victim of domestic violence.
Depp is suing Heard, his ex-wife, for $50 million over a 2018 op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post, in which she described herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse.” Although Depp was not named in the article, the actor claims it cost him some acting roles.
What happened in the lawsuit between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard?
Private audios, evaluations by specialists and even a makeup company’s video referring to one of its products were just some of the issues that arose from the court dispute.
Depp’s lawyer, Jessica Meyer, played a 2016 recording of a conversation between the ex-couple in which Heard was concerned about recovering her reputation after press reports of abuse in their relationship.
In a recorded statement to the court, Depp’s former agent, Christian Carino, claimed to believe that the domestic violence allegations made by Heard against Depp took the actor out of future Pirates of the Caribbean films.
During the trial, it also was revealed that the article published by Heard in the Post was strategically published after the release of Aquaman to achieve greater impact, followers and readership.
Likewise, Johnny Depp’s bodyguard assured that he saw injuries on the actor and never on Amber Heard, while the actor’s doctor assured that his patient lost a finger after an argument with his ex-wife.
Bodyguard Travis McGivern said he heard and saw Heard Heard deliver “a closed fist” to the left side of Johnny Depp’s face.
Starling Jenkins, a chauffeur and security guard for the actor who was called to testify at the trial, revealed why Heard allegedly left human feces on the bed she shared with Depp.
Through a live video broadcast from the court, Jenkins assured that he accompanied the actress to the famous Coachella festival in 2016 and that on the way she told him that the two had had a strong argument and that she left a “surprise” in Depp’s bed; “a horrible practical joke gone wrong.”
On the other hand, Amber fired her press team and hired a new agency, as she is not happy with the way the media covers her side of the story. The actress opted to hire Shane Communications, an agency that has already confronted the actor in the past.
Other key revelations: Heard would have financial problems
When the couple reached a divorce settlement in 2017, Heard publicly pledged to donate her entire $7 million payout to charity: one half would go to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and the other half to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU.)
ACLU executive Terence Dougherty testified that his organization had received only $1.3 million from Heard, including $500,000 from a fund linked to new Twitter owner Elon Musk, with whom Heard had a brief relationship.
According to Dougherty, ACLU learned in 2019 that Heard was having financial problems and could not fulfill the remainder of her pledge.
Dougherty also testified directly about The Washington Post’s 2018 op-ed and said ACLU attorneys helped draft and review the article, which was published at the time to take advantage of Aquaman‘s publicity.
Heard would have personality disorders
Forensic psychologist Shannon Curry told the jury that, in her opinion, Amber Heard suffered from borderline personality disorder and histrionic personality disorder.
The specialist said she came to her conclusion after spending about 12 hours with Heard in December 2021, during which she conducted mental health tests and after reviewing her medical records.
