On Thursday, The Rolling Stones expressed their “deepest sympathy” to the British royal family on the death of Elizabeth II, who was a “constant presence” in their lives.

“The Rolling Stones extend their deepest sympathy to the Royal Family on the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, who was a constant presence in their lives as in countless others,” reads the note the legendary British group posted on their Twitter account.

In addition, the vocalist of Their Satanic Majesties, Mick Jagger, stressed that, throughout his life, Elizabeth II “was always there.”

“In my childhood, I can recall watching her wedding highlights on TV. I remember her as a beautiful young lady,” Jagger added on his Instagram account, expressing his condolences to the royal family.

Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom died this Thursday, September 8, at 96, at her residence in Balmoral, Scotland. Ascended to the throne in 1952, she was the monarch with the longest period of reign, surpassing her great-great-grandmother Victoria and, for decades, one of the most influential leaders in the world.

The queen, who celebrated her Platinum Jubilee in June, spent 70 years on the throne in which she went through social crises and family scandals.

Prince Charles is now the new king and will remain at Balmoral Castle with his wife, Queen consort Camilla, until his return to London on Friday.
