Governor Ron DeSantis’ re-election campaign announced an education initiative that aims to provide a model for school board candidates that prioritizes parental rights and protects children.

“The DeSantis Education Agenda: Putting Students First, Protecting Parents’ Rights is an initiative focused on setting Florida’s children up for success, ensuring parental rights in education, and combatting woke agendas from infiltrating public schools,” explained a press release from the governor’s team.

“Parents across Florida should ask school board candidates and their current school board members how they scored on the DeSantis Education Agenda. Florida’s students are thriving, our schools are open, teachers are paid more, and parents are empowered. This agenda serves as a model for the nation as Florida’s school board candidates run and win on the DeSantis Education Agenda,” said Dave Abrams, senior advisor to the DeSantis re-election campaign.

The governor’s team highlighted that board members can respond to a survey to clarify questions regarding the agenda. School board candidates and current school board members can complete the DeSantis Education Agenda Survey. Questions cover topics such as teacher compensation, workforce development, wearing facemasks in schools, school choice, increasing school safety measures, banning Critical Race Theory (CRT), and ensuring curriculum transparency with parents.

Governor DeSantis has pushed an agenda on defending children and preventing indoctrination in Florida schools. In April, the Republican signed House Bill (HB) 7, to provide businesses, employees, children and families with tools for what he called protection against “woke indoctrination.”

“Florida, we will not allow the far left’s woke agenda to take over our schools and workplaces. There is no place for indoctrination or discrimination in Florida,” the governor stressed.
