Russia today labeled as “false” the U.S. claims that it had “credible information” that Russian forces have compiled a list of Ukrainians to kill them or send them to detention camps after an attack, invasion, or occupation of Ukraine by Moscow.

“It is an absolute hoax. It’s a lie. I know it’s a total fabrication. That list does not exist. It is false,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at his daily telephone press briefing.

According to The New York Times, which claims to have a copy of the document, Washington sent the information to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet.

According to the publication, the U.S. authorities also informed Bachelet that Russian forces are planning to commit human rights violations, including torture or kidnapping of civilians.

The likely targets would be people who oppose Russian actions, including Russian and Belarusian dissidents living in Ukraine, journalists, anti-corruption activists, and members of ethnic and religious minorities.
