The leader of the Italian Lega party, Matteo Salvini, today defended the mandate of Donald Trump because the world lived “years of peace” and said that “when the Democrats return to government, the winds of war return.”
Salvini made these statements in the vicinity of the Senate, when asked by journalists about the debate in Italy on sending arms to Ukraine, which is openly rejected by the far-left party 5 Star Movement (M5S).
“I know there is also a debate in the United States. The United States is not Biden. With Trump we have lived years of peace. It so happens that when the Democrats return to government the winds of war return,” he noted.
The Lega leader affirmed that the presidents of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and Russia, Vladimir Putin, should meet to negotiate peace, in order to put an end to the invasion that Moscow started last February 24.
