Samantha Power, the former United Nations Ambassador who during the Obama administration, advocated for the communist regime in Cuba and enslavement of its medical workers, was proposed by Joe Biden to head the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
Biden, who has chosen to form his Cabinet with former Obama administration officials, wants Power to take over the American institution dedicated to distributing most non-military foreign aid.
Power previously worked for the Obama administration as the U.S. permanent representative to the UN and was on the National Security Council’s staff as a special advisor to the president and senior director of Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights.
“Ambassador Samantha Power is a world-renowned voice of conscience and moral clarity—challenging and rallying the international community to stand up for the dignity and humanity of all people,” Biden said in a video nominating Power for the position.
“As administrator of USAID, she will be a powerful force for principled American engagement,” she said.
Power is therefore in no position to defend principles after she defended the Castro regime during her administration and abstained from voting on the embargo against Cuba at the UN General Assembly in 2016.
The former ambassador said in her speech to the General Assembly: “Instead of trying to block Cuba from the rest of the world, we want a world of opportunities and ideas open to the people of Cuba”; but what really happened with Obama’s policies was that Cubans did not have opportunities, but the regime’s top officials did.
It was in that speech where Power praised the missions of Cuban doctors, who over the years have left evidence that they are either enslaved or working as intelligence officials disguised as doctors
“Cuba sent more than 200 health professionals to the region, an impressive contribution for a country of only 11 million people,” Power said of the doctors who treated the Ebola epidemic.
Power’s appointment was reviewed by the Cuban propaganda outlet Granma, where it was recalled that when the former ambassador abstained from voting against the communist regime, the same Cuban foreign minister, Bruno Rodriguez, thanked her and shared on that occasion some parts of the ambassador’s speech.
Five years after Samantha Power’s much celebrated speech, the same UN described the missions of Cuban doctors abroad as “forced labor”.
“In countries where the host government pays the Cuban worker directly, he must return to the Cuban government a percentage of his salary that would increase to 75% or even 90% of his monthly salary. In many cases, the salary given to the medical workers would not allow them to live with dignity. In addition, the Cuban government freezes a part of the salary that the doctors can only access after their return to the country but, according to the information received – the UN text points out – many times they do not receive the full amount they are entitled to”.

Biden announced part of his executive Cabinet made up mostly of former officials from the Obama administration, of which he was vice president.
Michael Goodwin published an article in the New York Post where he noted that not only does Biden’s penchant for old things worry him, but the policies he will implement.
Biden has added John Kerry to his cabinet as his Climate Envoy. He is the architect of the questionable agreement with Iran and the man responsible for signing the Paris climate agreement, both of which Biden hopes to revive.
“The deal with Iran coddled and funded the murderous mullahs and their terror brigades while paving the way for them to obtain nuclear weapons. Biden, perhaps unaware of the changes in the Middle East over the past four years, has talked about wanting to return to it,” Goodwin notes in his article.
Joseph Humire, a hemispheric security analyst and director of the Center for the Study of a Free and Secure Society, told El American that the Obama administration went “very soft” on China, making it the influential country it is today. He also emphasized that with Iran he gave “many privileges”.
“The problem was not to sign an agreement with Iran, but how to reach a fair agreement. The way in which that agreement was reached with Obama was very bad and irresponsible, with many gaps, giving many privileges to Iran and getting very little benefit and without any guarantee,” he said.
“If Biden wants to retake that agreement he has to do it better than in previous years, because the last one only led to more failures,” Humire explained.
Other evidence that Biden would be copying Obama’s cabinet is reflected in Antony Blinken as secretary of state. During the Obama administration, Blinken approached China to allow the Asian country to become a powerhouse by stealing American technology and even jobs.
Another choice from the past is Alejandro Mayorkas as Secretary of Homeland Security. Mayorkas joined the Obama administration in 2009 as director of the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services. (USCIS). He was promoted to the post of assistant secretary of the Department of Homeland Security and confirmed in the position in December 2014 after a Senate vote.
The future Secretary of Homeland Security was Obama’s accomplice in the creation of the punitive immigrant cages. He was also one of the officials who negotiated with the Cuban regime to relax sanctions and facilitate bilateral trade while the tyranny further repressed the island’s population.
