GOP senators are calling on Facebook’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, to turn over communications the FBI had with Facebook employees requesting the censorship of news articles about Hunter Biden’s laptop.
Zuckerberg recently admitted to slowing down the distribution of news stories related to the president’s son and claimed he did so after the FBI approached to ask them to be on “high alert” for Russian propaganda before the 2020 election. Now the senators are demanding to know what that approach was like.
“The American people deserve to know whether the FBI used Facebook as part their alleged plan to discredit information about Hunter Biden,” the letter says. “If so, Congress and the American people require clarity with respect to the extent the FBI communicated with Facebook during the 2020 election about Hunter Biden related-information,” added Senators Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Ron Johnson, R-Wisconsin.
In addition to communications, the senators also demanded the names of Facebook and government employees involved, and the dates when the social network decreased the distribution of articles about Hunter Biden’s laptop.
In an interview published last Aug. 25, Zuckerberg told Joe Rogan that ahead of the 2020 election, the FBI warned Facebook to be on the lookout for possible Russian propaganda, advising them to “be vigilant” because something was about to come to light. As a result, Zuckerberg admitted that Facebook limited the visibility of posts about Hunter Biden’s laptop.
Zuckerberg’s statement coincides with the allegations that Republican congressmen have made publicly and that are summarized in two actions: 1) The FBI would have intentionally paused the investigations linked to Hunter Biden so as not not influence the outcome of the presidential election. 2) The FBI and the Department of Justice would have decided to qualify the information on the laptop of the president’s son as “disinformation” to prevent delving further into the investigations.
Senator Johnson had already denounced that the FBI chiefs told their employees: “You will not look at that Hunter Biden laptop”, promising that they would not alter the outcome of the 2020 election.

Collusion to hide information about Hunter Biden?
On July 25, an official Senate letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland was made public, asking them to investigate accusations from “highly credible informants” who alleged that both the FBI and the Justice Department would be interested in burying paperwork involving Hunter Biden.
Senator Grassley insisted that the allegations were so serious that they would prove, if confirmed, that both offices were “institutionally corrupt to their very core.”
Grassley wrote in the letter that the whistleblowers “alleged that the FBI developed information in 2020 about Hunter Biden’s financial and related criminal activity” and that it was “falsely labeled as disinformation.”
“If these allegations are true and accurate, the Justice Department and the FBI are -and have been- institutionally corrupted to their very core, to the point where the United States Congress and the American people will no longer have confidence in the equal application of the law,” he wrote.
Likewise, Republican Representative James Comer of Kentucky has also charged that the Treasury Department is obstructing investigations related to Hunter Biden’s business dealings.
According to Comer, Treasury officials refused to hand over Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) to the House Oversight and Reform Committee, unless the committee’s Democratic leaders signed off the request.
