Police are searching for the perpetrators of a shooting that left three people wounded, one critically, on Sunday night on a main street in Miami Beach, where pedestrians and diners at nearby restaurants had to seek cover to escape bullets.

The alleged perpetrators of the shooting are three African-American men who fled the scene in a dark-colored pickup truck, possibly a Jaguar, according to Ernesto Rodriguez, spokesman for the Miami-Dade Police.

Television channels published Monday images taken by security cameras of businesses on Washington Avenue where the public is seen on the terrace of a restaurant throwing themselves to the ground and trying to escape when they begin to hear the first shots of a batch of about 20.

Three people were shot on the street, one of the most touristic in the area, and were taken to hospitals. One of them is in critical condition, according to police.

According to a message posted on Twitter by Miami Beach Police, at least two types of bullet casings were found at the scene indicating there may have been an exchange of gunfire.

Rodriguez said police are interviewing witnesses to the shooting and analyzing images from security cameras and license plate readers in the area to clarify what happened and find the perpetrators of the shooting.
