Gymnast Simone Biles will participate this Tuesday in the Olympic balance beam final, after having withdrawn from the other five due to mental health problems.
The American Federation announced it was “delighted to announce” that two American gymnasts, “Suni Lee and Simone Biles,” would compete in the final.
Biles dropped out of the team final on Tuesday after performing only one exercise, and day by day she has been withdrawing from the others.
The beam is the apparatus that will close the women’s artistic gymnastics program in Tokyo on Tuesday.
Biles won the bronze medal on this apparatus at the Rio Olympics, along with the gold medals on team, all-around, floor and vault.
