Stacey Abrams is famous for promoting the ‘Defund the Police’ movement. However, on Monday, news surfaced that she has spent at least $1.2 million on private security this year, as reported exclusively by Fox News.

“A Fox News Digital review found that the Abrams campaign doled out over $400,000 between July and August of this year alone for private security,” the news outlet said.

The media outlet detailed that the payments for those months came after another report revealed that the Abrams campaign paid more than $800,000 to Executive Protection Agencies, LLC, an Atlanta-based private security firm, between December 2021 and June of this year.

Stacey Abrams on police funding

“The campaign and the private security firm didn’t immediately return requests for comment Sunday about which guards the Abrams campaign uses. The price tag of over $1.2 million is noteworthy given Abrams’ previous support for the defund the police movement, gun control and the closure of privatized prisons in the state of Georgia,” Fox News commented.

Stacey Abrams took the opportunity during the riots over the death of George Floyd in 2020 to promote an end to police funding. “If there is a time when resources are so scarce that we have to choose between killing black people or serving black people, then absolutely: our choice must be service,” Abrams claimed at the time.
