The State Department is allegedly causing “inexplicable delays” in the rescue of hundreds of Americans in Afghanistan.

Last August 30, El American published for the first time that private intelligence and security services are in Afghanistan trying to rescue hundreds of Americans who were not evacuated by the U.S. government; this time Fox News reaffirms this information and points out that the State Department became an obstacle to the evacuation of the Americans.

“I have three friends who are in Afghanistan with their own initiatives and resources to rescue Americans; they also claimed to me that the United States is being an obstacle instead of a support,” revealed to El American, Joseph Humire, a specialist in intelligence and global security and executive director of the Center for a Free and Secure Society.

Rick Clay, who heads the private rescue group PlanB, told Fox News that the State Department is the only thing preventing the flights they are arranging from leaving Afghanistan. Likewise, three other people also involved asserted that “the delays are recklessly endangering American lives.”

“This is zero place to be negotiating with American lives. Those are our people standing on the tarmac and all it takes is a f****ing phone call,” one such person, who has been integral to the private evacuation efforts, told Fox News.

“It is not the Taliban that is holding this up – as much as it sickens me to say that – it is the United States government,” he added.

The State Department “is not allowing any private charters carrying refugees [to] land anywhere;” he noted and said it is making different “excuses” such as lack of air traffic controllers and radar problems.

He claims the State Department’s obstruction would be motivated in part by embarrassment that private services are rescuing Americans left behind by the U.S. government.

Up to 200 Americans in Afghanistan still awaiting evacuation

After continued refusal from the State Department, the private intelligence services decided to go to Republican and Democratic lawmakers to get the approval needed to evacuate all the Americans stranded in Afghanistan.

Clay shared some of the messages he has received from a family on the PlanB manifest list that he has been in contact with.

“Please save us as soon as possible,” one message read. “My family and I are facing a lot of problems. My children’s health is deteriorating day by day due to many worries,” they note.

“On the other hand, there are reports that the Taliban have recruited people in the Ministry of Technology and Communications to find people who will cooperate with US forces,” the person said. “If they find out anything about me, they will kill me and my family,” add the messages from Americans and Afghan collaborators desperate to be evacuated.

The White House response

During a briefing last Thursday, White House press secretary Jen Psaki and State Department spokesman Ned Price denied that the Biden administration was preventing aircraft from leaving Afghanistan.

According to Biden there are between 100 and 200 Americans who stayed behind when the troops completed their withdrawal on Aug. 31, many of them dual citizens.

The State Department has not yet given an estimate of the number of green card holders or Afghans who helped the U.S. during the war and received a special immigrant visa to live in the United States.
