Nearly ‘Impossible’ to Find More Survivors in Surfside Tragedy, Fire Chief Says

Miami-Dade Assistant Fire Chief Raide Jadallah told the families that after searching all areas of debris, authorities have concluded that it will now be next to impossible to find any people alive.

In this regard, the authorities explained that there will be a change in the way they have been conducting the search efforts and will focus on recovery management.

Surfside Tragedy

On Tuesday, Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava reported that 117 people were still unaccounted for and 191 were found alive after the June 24 collapse.

Of the 28 fatalities, 26 have been identified. The latest are the married couple Ingrid Ainsworth, 66, and Tzvi Ainsworth, 68, who, according to EFE, had lived in Australia for 20 years.

Similarly, the mayor had referred to the difficulties that the rain and lightning were creating for the rescuers who resumed their work interrupted on Sunday by the controlled demolition of the rest of the building.
