‘We Need to Get Wokeness Out of Schools’: Interview With Herschel Walker

Walker, El American

In the latest segment of Aguilar Opina in El American, Alfonso Aguilar spoke with former football player and mixed martial arts fighter Herschel Walker, who is a Republican candidate for the Georgia Senate, about his positions on inflation, the immigration crisis, and education.

Walker referred to inflation, which has already reached 8.3%, as a result of policies employed by the Democratic administration, which “continue to spend money [they] don’t have” and “lying” about the state of the economy.

“They not telling Georgians the truth. Inflation is not going down, inflation is still high,” Walker said. “They continue to spend money we don’t have and they spend money on things that we don’t need. What we need to be doing is putting our money into our schools, putting into out men and women in blue for crime, we need to be putting it into our military.”

The former athlete pointed out that the Inflation Reduction Act, the law passed by the Democrats with the supposed purpose of reducing inflation, will do nothing to improve the economy, and claimed that the Biden administration is not concerned about doing so and prefers to advance its leftist agenda.

One of his purposes, he told El American, is to “get wokeness out of schools” and regain the autonomy of educational institutions.

“We need to get wokeness out of schools, tell every kid in America that he can have that American dream like I have if he’s willing to work,” Walker said. “But we’ve got to give them the education they need, we’ve got to put money behind those education means, put it in the student rather than in the institutions, and quit bringing in that woke agenda, that there’s only one history.”

The candidate also said that the responsibility for the border crisis lies with President Joe Biden and his policies, as they insist on keeping a “borders wide open.”
