“Big government sucks, big business sucks, Big Tech, big Hollywood, big universities, any accumulation of power that is centralized is fundamentally dangerous for individual liberty.” These are the words of Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) during the opening of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) 2022, which began Thursday in Orlando.

The Republican argued that a battle for power and freedom is unfolding in the United States. He said that the free society of Americans is under threat because of an alliance between big corporations and the current government.

Cruz said the enemies of freedom seek to silence citizens. In response, he called on Americans to use their voice. He also pointed out that politicians who do not defend freedom are afraid when citizens stand up.

He expressed that Americans are raising their country again and that this is a great wave that is growing. And he had no hesitation in assuring that “And together, we will save this great nation!”

Ted Cruz’s speech coincided with a welcome message from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who defended his administration during the pandemic. “We protected people’s rights. We protected people’s jobs. We protected small businesses. And we made sure that every kid in the state of Florida had an opportunity to go to school in-person, five days a week.”

He added, “From the very beginning, we refused to let this state descend into some type of Faucian dystopia where people’s freedoms are curtailed and their livelihoods are destroyed … Florida has defeated Faucism. Freedom has prevailed in the sunshine state.”
