Senator Ted Cruz met with Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister. At the meeting, Cruz expressed unequivocal U.S. support for Israel in its fight against terrorism.

“It was a pleasure to meet with my friend, Prime Minister Netanyahu, and reiterate America’s strong and unequivocal support for Israel,” Cruz wrote on Twitter.

The Republican’s meeting with the prime minister, comes after Israel faced terror attacks by Hamas. Several Republicans such as Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio have repeatedly expressed support for Israeli citizens.

“These are perilous times and whether it’s standing up to Hamas terrorists or stopping Iran from getting nuclear weapons, the American people are with you,” Cruz said.

U.S. Support for Israel

U.S. support for Israel has generated controversy because in the Democratic Party, representatives such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have criticized President Joe Biden’s and Americans’ support for the Israelis.

However, President Joe Biden assured in early May that Israel has the right to defend itself against Hamas attacks. He made the statements at a press conference where he was asked about the situation in the Middle East.

“Israel has a right to defend itself when you have thousands of rockets flying into your territory,” he said.
