Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) introduced legislation this week to block the federal funding of Critical Race Theory in public institutions, arguing that American tax dollars should not fund this “radical ideology.”

“The federal government has no right to impose a political agenda on Americans, especially one that aims to tear down our institutions and divide us along racial lines. Critical Race Theory originated from the critical race studies movement. It is a Marxist ideology that sees the world as a battle, not between classes, as classical Marxism does, but between races. This is bigoted,” Cruz said in a statement.

According to Fox News, Cruz’s bill, dubbed the “End CRT Act,” is just the latest in a series of GOP-led proposals seeking to ban Critical Race Theory in public schools and universities.

Ted Cruz on the same path as Texas

In fact, Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott signed a law Wednesday that prohibits the public school system from incorporating Critical Race Theory, which teaches that America is inherently, historically and systematically racist, into classroom curricula.

The law states that no teacher may include in his or her classroom any theory that states that character is necessarily determined by race or sex. Similarly, it says that individuals should not feel guilty or take responsibility for actions committed in the past by other members of the same race or sex.
