WATCH: Sen. Ted Cruz Slams Biden’s DHS Secretary Mayorkas. ‘If You Had Integrity, You Would Resign’

At a hearing on Tuesday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) lambasted Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over the Biden administration’s continued border crisis.

Cruz lashed out on Mayorkas after the DHS Secretary admitted that the United States had its lowest number of immigrants encountered in the southern border in 2020.

Watch the full inquiry here:

During the Senate hearing, Senator Ted Cruz told Mayorkas:

“Let’s look at CBP encounters … it drops to the lowest level. Then boom, what happens? You show up!” (…) “And that red line is you! That red line is Joe Biden! And you’re claiming nothing happened, oh gosh, this was here before us. No! You made the decision to allow this!”

Cruz also got Mayorkas to reveal that he had no clue how many people perished trying to cross the southern border in 2022. Cruz later outraged Mayorkas by asking that he quit as a result of the Biden administration’s poor handling of the problem.

Secretary Mayorkas responded that he would not “address” Cruz’s questions because he found them to be “revolting.”

Senator Cruz’s demand for Alejandro Mayorkas to resign is an addition to the many petitions from senators, representatives, political analysts and media, including El American, who have asked for the official resignation during the past year.

The southern border crisis continues to worsen as thousands of migrants cross illegally everyday to the United States without any control whatsoever.  Only in October, 2022 the Border Patrol recorded its highest number of immigrant arrests at the southwest border, with nearly 2.4 million encounters in the fiscal year.

Republicans have highlighted the border situation since the beginning of the Biden administration, but some Democrats acknowledge the crisis. Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) spoke with Fox News and did not hesitate to say that the border “is not secure”.

“First of all, no, the border is not secure. When you have 1.7 million individuals last year, and now another 2.7, that’s over 4.5 million individuals encounter at the border, plus the — if you add the getaways, that’s going to be over 5 million individuals in just two years. No, the border is secure — it’s not secured and we’ve got to make sure that we have repercussions there.” said the legislator, considered one of the few moderate Democrats in the House of Representatives.

VP Kamala Harris has often stated that the “border is secure,” statements that caused responses from representatives such as Cuellar and also Democrat Senators such as Joe Manchin, who back in 2022 assured to Fox News that Kamala Harris was wrong about these claims:

“It’s wrong. She’s dead wrong on that.” At the same time, he reiterated the need to finish the border wall, one of the main initiatives of former President Donald Trump.

“I voted every time for the wall. But we need the wall and a lot more, technology, more agents. The 2013 immigration bill was still the best piece of legislation I think that we have ever had before us. We couldn’t get it passed through the Republican House at that time because of some politics involved there,” Manchin said.

As Fox News  reported a few months ago, during fiscal year 2022, more than 500,000 illegal immigrants have escaped from border agents and made their way into the United States. Evidently, the Vice President’s definition of “secure” on the Southern Border appears to be somewhat inaccurate.

This figure eclipses the 389,155 leaks that Alejandro Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security, testified for fiscal year 2021.  “Hundreds of thousands crossing every month is not the definition of secure. They are liars and anyone who believes them are fools,” one agent told Fox News.
