The state of Texas sued the Biden-Harris administration for releasing illegal migrants with COVID-19.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and a group led by former Donald Trump advisor Stephen Miller filed a lawsuit to stop the catch-and-release border policy spearheaded by the Democratic administration. They claim it allows illegal immigrants infected with COVID-19 to enter the United States.

Both Paxton and Miller filed court papers in federal court outlining the additional cost to taxpayers of maintaining this policy, which they claim endangers public health and safety.

In a statement on the lawsuit, Miller notes that ” at the same time the Administration is urging Americans to get vaccinated, they are resettling thousands of unvaccinated illegal aliens into their cities, towns, and schools–and placing the cost and burden of all healthcare services for these new arrivals in the taxpayer tab.”

The lawsuit references the White House’s February decision to suspend the Trump-era policy of forcing illegal aliens to return to their home country in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Miller also argued that Biden’s policy has violated guidelines promulgated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other federal health agencies regarding the use of masks, social distancing, among other issues.

Biden ended the provision and has released unaccompanied children and families into the United States, where they apparently await immigration court dates.

Recent Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data shows that in May more than 180,000 illegal immigrants were arrested. That figure, according to critics and former officials, represents the largest number of encounters in decades.

Back in March, Texas Governor Greg Abbott accused the Biden-Harris administration of “recklessly releasing hundreds of illegal immigrants who have COVID in communities” in that state.

Biden under fire

In addition to the lawsuit brought by both the Texas prosecutor and attorney Stephen Miller, there are other lawsuits underway against Biden for his immigration policies. Prosecutors in Florida and Arizona are also in court seeking the reinstatement of former President Trump’s immigration policies and denouncing the impacts of the Democratic administration’s measures on the American population.

In April, Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich filed a lawsuit against Biden, arguing that the new immigration policies and the relaxation of border restrictions are affecting multiple states and the American population in general.

Brnovich is calling for the reinstatement of border wall construction and the reimplementation of Trump’s “Public Charge Rule,” which allowed immigration officials to reject certain asylum applications if the individual could become a burden on the local economy.

Florida prosecutor Ashley Moody also sued Biden over the immigration changes as she believes the new policies put the public at risk. Moody blamed Biden for what is happening with the handling of illegal immigrants, since, she pointed out, serious criminals have been released.
