In just a few months, Governor Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) went from being “the star governor” to being one of the most repudiated officials in America. The results of the polls, which gave him the lead within the Democratic Party, now plummet to a point where his aspirations to be reelected as governor seem “mission impossible.”

Cuomo won an Emmy for his “response” to the coronavirus, the Democratic Party applauded him for his pandemic measures, and the mainstream media glorified him, but four months after winning the award for his “excellence” use of television during the pandemic, Cuomo’s truly bizarre and corrupt behavior is coming to light.

When Cuomo won re-election in 2018, he won more than 59% of the vote. At the onset of the pandemic in 2020, he was considered an “exemplary manager” in explaining the impact of COVID-19. He went so far as to criticize the Trump administration for its response to the pandemic, and often claimed that “facts matter” in many of his press conferences.

But the facts now speak for themselves and demolish Cuomo’s image. The governor decided to confine the population, close restaurants, schools, and entertainment venues, which caused the bankruptcy of thousands of businesses and a massive unemployment rate for the state of New York.

He also forced nursing homes to receive patients with COVID-19 positive, which caused the virus to spread rapidly in the nursing homes, causing the deaths of thousands of sexagenarians.

The “facts” highlighted in reports by Attorney General Letitia James revealed that more than 15,000 people died because of Cuomo’s order. Cuomo’s order was also applied to homes for the care of the disabled, likely causing the death of hundreds of them.

The award-winning administration was forced to admit that it lied about the true number of deceased seniors, and worse, admitted that it hid the real number with premeditation in order to avoid the political repercussions of a potential federal investigation.

In short, the “star governor” misled the public and media outlets that unconditionally opened doors for him.

Is Cuomo still an exemplary leader? Apparently not, especially since the truth about the nursing homes came to light, not because the governor had a guilty conscience, but because his aide Melissa DeRosa privately admitted to Democratic lawmakers that Cuomo administration intentionally kept the data secret for fear of possible repercussions from the Justice Department.

Now, the Democrat, who paradoxically chairs the U.S. National Governors Association, faces a federal investigation and scrutiny from party leaders who have also decided to condemn Cuomo’s deplorable behavior.

Cuomo: a “playful” governor?

But as if all the nursing home scandal wasn’t enough, now New York’s “famed” governor is also facing three allegations of sexual harassment. The governor has claimed that he has been “misunderstood” for being “playful” at work.

“At work sometimes I think I am being playful and make jokes that I think are funny. I do, on occasion, tease people in what I think is a good natured way,” the governor claimed as he attempted to excused his behavior.

Cuomo’s allegations were so surprising that the Mayor of New York City, Bill de Blasio, also a Democrat, showed his indignation and described the governor’s actions as “disgusting and chilling”.

The politician, who wanted to become a television star and who also won an Emmy for his “impeccable” management, now lost 22 percentage points in his approval rating.

According to the Center for American Political Studies at Harvard and the Harris Poll, Cuomo enjoys an -11 percent approval rating.

It remains to be seen how this nightmare will unfold for the New York governor and the Democratic Party. Everything indicates that as the hours go by, Cuomo not only gains points to deserve an impeachment but also increases the possibility that he will face a criminal trial since according to the same Democratic legislators he would have committed “crimes with intent”.
