The Florida Standard Reports Andrew Warren Used Tax Money to Fund Partisan Trips

The Florida Standard published an exclusive revelation showing that former State Attorney for the 13th District, Andrew Warren, received a series of text messages and emails on his cellular devices with invitations for the Attorney to attend partisan events to “attack Ron DeSantis on various issues.” While the article does not make it clear if Warren responded to the invitations, the texts come just a week after the Standard published reports of Warren planning travels using taxpayer money to attend political meetings and events.

According to an article published by the Standard last week, Warren traveled across the state and the country to attend events coordinated by the Fair and Just prosecutions group, a national network that describes itself as “bringing together elected local officials (…) committed to promoting a justice system based in fairness, equity, compassion, and fiscal responsibility.”

The Standard reported that Warren traveled to at least six events held by the Fair and Just prosecutions group that were paid by Florida’s taxpayers. The events were held around the country, from Seattle to Washington DC.

Warren was also selected as a chair of the “safety and justice” task force created by the Florida Democratic Party to develop new law enforcement policies across the state. The Standard reported that during his time as a chair, Warren attended four meetings of the Safety and justice task force in 2022, events that the newspaper claim were funded by taxpayer money.

State attorney Warren was dismissed by Governor Ron DeSantis at the beginning of August after Warren signed a letter saying he was going to refuse to enforce the 15-week abortion ban signed into law earlier this year. Warren has since sued DeSantis for the decision, arguing that he did not have the authority to suspend him
