El American’s prized Idiot of the Week award goes this time to President Joe Biden, for being the man most responsible for the tragic situation in Afghanistan. He has really been making his case for some time now, but this was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
Biden’s handling of the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan has created a terrible humanitarian crisis, and has dragged America’s image into the mud.
In fairness, it must be said that many should share the award with him this week for contributing to the disaster and making fools of themselves by trying to justify the unjustifiable, but it is Joe Biden who takes the prize not only for starting the chain reaction of these events, but above all for his pitiful and cowardly way of trying to exculpate himself.
The fact that it was necessary to withdraw from Afghanistan is hardly disputed by anyone, but the way in which the Democratic administration has done so has been insane. Although any comparison is frivolous, this is like getting rid of an old car. The car still drives, but the brakes fail no matter how much you take it in for repairs. The logical thing to do would be to first empty it of valuables, and then tow it very carefully to the scrap yard, to minimize the risk of accidents.
However, Joe Biden seems to have decided to get rid of the sports car by removing the hood, putting his foot down to feel the wind in his face as he savored an ice cream, with the trunk full of material, the tank full of gas, and with all the seats occupied by Americans and Afghan collaborators strapped in with seat belts, whom he would leave to their fate while he threw himself out of the car in motion, just before driving it off a cliff.
He then tried to exonerate himself by saying that it was Trump’s idea to get rid of the car, and that no one could have imagined that a car without brakes would be able to reach such speed. He apportioned blame to everyone but the Taliban, not even himself. To the Afghans, to the Afghan troops, to the Americans who trained the Afghan troops, to those who trained the Afghan troops, to Trump, and miraculously he did not blame climate change, January 6 and the press, as he usually does.
He made these excuses in the barely 15 minutes he has spent speaking in public about this crisis, while he has continued on vacation and refused to answer questions from reporters. Biden not only hastily withdraws from Afghanistan, but also from press conferences. By the time you come to find out, he is already on his back and running to continue his vacation, probably desperate for ice cream.
Everyone seems celebrate Joe Biden
The press has been dazzled by this ice cream thing. They have been fascinated for months with how nice Joe Biden is and his love for ice cream. Perhaps it is because this is the only subject he is able to respond to with a certain coherence and without hesitation, and without being surly with the press.
How soft the press is with Biden, and how rude Joe is with the press! This idyll is hard to understand, but they are still on their honeymoon.
CNN reporters in Afghanistan said that although the Taliban were chanting “death to America”, they were quite smiling and “friendly”, as if trying to take the heat off the issue, or like the neighbor of the serial killer they interviewed who said that “he was nice and always said hello”. It looks like a humor sketch, but it is real.
Professional comedians have also defended Biden and attacked — of course — Trump. Stephen Colbert and Seth Meyers, not ironically, said that it was not Biden’s fault, but the former president’s fault.
“It’s not Biden’s fault, it’s Trump’s.” It doesn’t matter when you read this. It will be the mantra of virtually every humorist and journalist on whatever subject they are talking about.
Ned Price, not a comedian, but a State Department spokesman — and not just anyone, but the first openly gay one — has called on the Taliban to form a government that is “inclusive and representative” and includes women. Surely the Taliban have taken note and will be happy to oblige Ned’s wishes. What’s more, we don’t understand why he hasn’t asked the Taliban to include open homosexuals in their new government. Quite a missed opportunity for the cause.
Meanwhile, Twitter is keeping the Taliban leaders’ accounts active because, according to them, they haven’t broken their rules. Hey, they may be fundamentalist terrorists and murderers, but they are very polite and don’t write nasty tweets like Trump did. Laughable.
Everything that is going on is at such a level of idiocy that it seems like a joke, but it is very sad, and here the only joke seems to be “Joke” Biden, who in just a few months is making merits to become one of the worst presidents in history. For now, he has earned himself the Idiot of the Week award from El American.
