Jane Campion’s “The Power of the Dog” received 12 nominations for the 94th annual Oscars, the most of any film this year the Hollywood Academy announced on Tuesday.

Behind this drama are “Dune” with 10 nominations, “Belfast” and “West Side Story” with seven each, and “King Richard” with six.

The Oscar for best film will be chosen among “Belfast,” “Coda,” “Don’t Look Up,” “Dune,” “King Richard,” “Licorice Pizza,” “Nightmare Alley,” “The Power of the Dog,” and “West Side Story.”

Joining that list is Japan’s “Drive My Car,” which, like “Parasite” did in 2020, will compete in both the best overall film category and the international category, which left out Spain’s “The Good Patron,” Mexico’s “Night of Fire,” and Panama’s “Cathedral Square.”

The other nominees for best foreign feature film are: “Flee” (Denmark), “The Hand of God” (Italy), “Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom” (Bhutan) and “The Worst Person in the World” (Norway).

There will be an important Spanish presence in the acting categories, as both Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz received a nomination, his for “Being The Ricardos” and hers for “Madres Paralelas.”

Along with Bardem, the best leading actor category will feature Benedict Cumberbatch (“The Power of the Dog”), Andrew Garfield (“Tick, Tick… Boom!”), Will Smith (“King Richard”) and Denzel Washington (“The Tragedy of Macbeth”).

Cruz, meanwhile, shares nominations with Jessica Chastain (“The Eyes of Tammy Faye”), Olivia Colman (“The Lost Daughter”), Kristen Stewart (“Spencer”) and Nicole Kidman (“Being The Ricardos”).
