The WHO Chief That Spread Dangerous Covid Misinformation Calls to Regulate ‘Monkeypox Disinformation’ on Social Media

The World Health Organization spread disastrous Covid-19 misinformation at a critical time early in the pandemic. But now, the unelected health body wants nations to regulate ‘monkeypox disinformation’ in favor of supporting the government’s official narrative about the virus.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, “The stigma and discrimination can be as dangerous as any virus and can fuel the outbreak. As we have seen with COVID 19 misinformation and misinformation can spread rapidly online. So we call on all social media platforms, tech companies, and new organizations to work with us to prevent and counter harmful information.”

Tedros, who is not a medical doctor but a former Egyptian communist official, is thus equating social stigma with the virulence of monkeypox, demonstrating that there is a political motivation behind the WHO’s call to suppress citizens’ speech.

On Saturday, however, the WHO declared the spread of monkeypox a “public health emergency” of international concern, with “a clear risk of further international spread.”

The WHO’s committee did not reach a consensus about whether monkeypox constitutes an international public health emergency, but WHO Director-General Tedros decided to to declare one anyway, saying, “in short, we have an outbreak that has spread around the world rapidly.”

Ghebreyesus also said that monkeypox cases have been concentrated among men who have sex with men, and particularly those who have multiple sexual partners.

The Biden administration is poised to follow the WHO’s lead and declare monkeypox a ‘national emergency’ and is already set on appointing a ‘monkeypox coordinator,’

The World Health Organization is responsible for spreading some of the most dangerous misinformation throughout the entire Covid-19 pandemic.

Early in the pandemic, the WHO downplayed that SARS-CoV-2 could be spread through human-to-human transmission, while ignoring reports from Taiwan in December that it could be spread among humans, apparently for political reasons.

Almost as damaging was the WHO’s reluctance to classify SARS-CoV-2 as an airborne-spread virus for nearly two years, which conveniently boosted the myth that cloth and surgical masks may significantly slow the spread of the virus.

Also reinforcing the fundamentally political nature of the WHO is its consistent defense of communist China with its official narrative that Covid-19 did not leak from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, but was rather a novel ‘wild variant’ that emerged spontaneously in a nearby wet market.

Despite the WHO’s track record of obfuscation and misinformation, the body now wants nations to regulate free speech about monkeypox. Rather than heeding the advice of such an unelected body, the United States should defund it, like former President Donald Trump did.
