In his first podcast appearance since leaving office, former President Donald Trump ruefully asserted that American society is no longer free. In conversation with Lisa Boothe, in the first episode of her program The Truth, the president commented on how the current situation of freedom of speech puts the U.S. public at risk.

For the 45th president, this situation reached such a point mainly because the press and Big Tech went “crazy”. He added, moreover, that freedom of the press is no longer such.

“Freedom of the press is completely gone. And the press is very dishonest. You see the way they cover the border,” Trump asserted to Boothe. “They’re not going to talk about the border and other things, many other things. I could make a whole list, but it’s really a terrible thing. It’s never happened this way before, it’s never happened.”

For Trump, the establishment media, along with the tech titans, are the biggest danger the nation is facing. He added that many of those canceled by the hordes don’t have the ability he has to take on those giants by other means.

“And I can get the word out because, you know, I can do it, and then everybody picks up on it, including Big Tech, which is kind of interesting,” he commented, referring to how some Big Techs allow their releases to circulate.

Figures released by Axios in January reveal that only 46% of Americans trust traditional media and trust in social media (all appropriated by Big Tech) has plummeted to 27%.

In addition, 56% of respondents said they agreed with the statement, “Journalists and reporters deliberately try to mislead people by saying things they know are false or gross exaggerations.”

The future of the GOP

Regarding the GOP, Trump gave a few words to Boothe about those he considers future Republican exponents. He named Florida Governor Ron DeSantis; Senators Josh Hawley (R-MO), Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Senator Rand Paul (R-KY).

The former Republican said he had not yet decided whether he would run for office in 2024, but he was positive about supporting any of those mentioned if they run and he does not.
