Joe Kent was born in a cabin in Sweet Home, Oregon, and grew up in Portland. In his early years, he says, he spent part of his formative years in Cascades and Columbia River Gorge. This was due to his activities with the Boy Scouts and Explorer Scouts. He says, he has always considered the Pacific Northwest his home and that led him to want to fight for his country.

That’s why when he was eighteen, he enlisted in the Army as an infantryman and worked his way into the Ranger Regiment and then Special Forces. After 9/11, he volunteered at every opportunity to serve in combat.

Now his battlefield has changed: he is a candidate running for congressman in the Republican Party. In a conversation with Anna Paulina Luna, chief correspondent of El American, he recounted the difficulties he experienced in the U.S. Armed Forces and reaffirmed his commitment to freedom and America.

During the conversation, Kent explained the importance of addressing the border crisis. He also detailed that the United States must resume leadership in Latin American countries. In addition, he acknowledged that he is conscious of being against the establishment. However, he is confident in the support of citizens to be a voice for conservative ideas in Congress. “We have a lot of work to do. I am backed by President Donald Trump, and I am facing the establishment and also the extreme left,” he assures.

He added: “I want to go ahead and fight because I want to fight, and I know how to fight. This is for the future of our nation and the legacy we will leave for our children. This is what compels me to run for office. It would be an honor to earn your vote and serve this great country once again.”
