Former President Donald Trump on Sunday asked the board of the Pulitzer Prizes to withdraw the awards given to the New York Times and the Washington Post in 2018 for false articles related to the alleged conspiracy of the former president with Russian authorities.

In a statement, Trump released a letter sent to the acting manager of the prestigious awards, Bud Kliment, in which he asks that the Pulitzer for National Reporting be rescinded because the published articles are “false reporting of a non-existent link between the Kremlin and the Trump campaign.”

“As has been widely publicized, the coverage was no more than a politically motivated farce which attempted to spin a false narrative that my campaign supposedly colluded with Russia despite a complete lack of evidence underpinning this allegation,” Trump said in the letter.

The former president already called for the withdrawal of this Pulitzer in March 2019, but this time he has taken aim at the charges filed last month on the part of special prosecutor John Durham against Michael Sussmann, who was a representative of the election campaign of former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

According to Durham, Sussmann lied to the FBI when he gave the agency information about possible ties between the Trump campaign and Kremlin-linked Alfa Bank.

Trump noted in his letter that the Pulitzer board praised the number of sources the New York Times and Washington Post’s “relentlessly reporting” on the former president’s connections to Moscow, but he claims most of these sources were anonymous.

“The headlines were extremely sensational and leaned heavily on unsubstantiated anonymous sources,” he added.
