Twitter announced Thursday that it will activate several features to combat misinformation in the face of the midterm elections in November, to facilitate access to “reliable” news and what they claim to be “correct” data about the process.

The company said it will impose the “civic integrity policy” it has applied in other elections and include labels on tweets if they believe their content is false or misleading, with a redesign that makes users share fewer messages and take more interest in clarifying them.

Also, a specific tab will be enabled to “explore” national news in English and Spanish from media that will have been previously chosen by a company team, without mentioning the standards taken into account to choose such media, nor the ideological lines of the same.

They will also share resources for residents of each state and public announcements for voters created from information from non-governmental entities, which will also be chosen by Twitter employees.
The social network added that it will be fine-tuning the recommendations it makes to its users through notifications to prevent the spread of misleading tweets, and is also strengthening the protection and security of the accounts of government officials, election candidates and journalists.
Twitter has been accused of having an ideological bias to the left, in the last elections they censored important information involving the son of the president and then candidate, Joe Biden, which according to several studies would have been crucial in the outcome of the elections.
