Russian President Vladimir Putin suffered an assassination attempt shortly after ordering the invasion of Ukraine on February 24, said Kyrylo Budanov, head of the general intelligence directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.
“There was an attempt to assassinate Putin. It is even said that he was attacked, not long ago, by representatives of the Caucasusm,” Budanov specified in an interview published this Tuesday by the Ukrainian media Ukrainska Pravda.
The head of the Ukrainian intelligence indicated that this is “non-public information. (It was an) absolutely unsuccessful attempt, but it really happened. It was about two months ago.”
“I repeat, this attempt was unsuccessful. There was no publicity about this event, but it took place,” Budanov reiterated.
The information offered by Ukrainian intelligence services, which have also pointed out these days that a coup d’état was being prepared in Russia against Putin, could not be cross-checked with an independent source.
