Ukrainian security forces have thwarted a Russian Secret Service plot to assassinate President Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian UNIAN news agency reported.
The Ukrainian military counterintelligence service arrested individuals led by a Russian FSB agent in the city of Uzhgorod, in the west of the country, which also published photos of weapons seized during the operation.
The group, composed of some 25 individuals, allegedly intended to travel to Kyiv posing as a unit of the territorial defense—the military reserve of the armed forces—and carry out several attacks and acts of sabotage there.
The Ukrainian security services have already stated on other occasions since the beginning of the war on February 24 that Moscow is trying to eliminate the Ukrainian president and destabilize the country through the action of saboteurs.
