President Joe Biden has “every intention” of seeking re-election in the 2024 elections amid reports of internal debate among Democrats about whether he should be the candidate for the next presidential election, the White House said Monday.

This was bluntly stated by presidential spokeswoman Jen Psaki at her daily press conference in response to questions about doubts within the president’s party.

In recent weeks, rumors have grown about discussions within the Democratic Party about the possibility that Biden will not run in 2024 due to the fall of his popularity and his age (which make him the oldest president in U.S. history).

Psaki rejected these reports and assured that Biden and his team are focused on working to bring the pandemic under control and improve the economic situation, both milestones not achieved by his administration.

The first choice to succeed Biden would be Kamala Harris, as many vice presidents have been presidential candidates in U.S. history, but the first woman to become vice president has seen her public profile diminish and her popularity plummet.
