Progressives are Hungry. Let’s Not Be Their Dessert

Hopes of a return to normalcy after the arrival of Joe Biden to the presidency of the United States have been quickly confirmed as mere fantasy.Progressives are not only persevere in their hatred of the now ex-President Donald Trump, but in the struggle to silence any voice that does not keep pace with their war on anything they consider extreme.

This week alone, we observed cases such as the censorship of large technology companies against Project Veritas and LifeSiteNews, the scandal inside the New York Times after the firing (sorry, “resignation”) of its reporter Donald McNeil for having said a “bad word” and, of course, the firing of actress Gina Carano, (Cara Dune in The Mandalorian) after she dared to publish a message that put progressives before the mirror of their own totalitarianism, forcing them to respond, well, as totalitarians.

Opening our eyes

By now, even many liberals (democrats) and social democrats realize what we have been warning them for years: that progressives have abandoned the terrain of tolerance in exchange for a path of censorship and systematic lynching that is incompatible with the liberal paradigm and even with the very survival of democracy and political civility. At one time, an understandable struggle has turned into a cannibal dinner.

This cannibal dinner has reached its current level because, for years, the liberals decided to give “free rein” to the radicals, to use them as a weapon against the right. The “moderates” thought that since they are tolerant and modern, they were not at risk that the woke mob would eventually turn against them.

While the political cannibals sharpened their teeth and increased their power, the liberals turned their eyes the other way. They took advantage of the feeling of moral superiority of teaming up with the progressives to denounce the conservatives. Only now are they beginning to realize that they themselves are backward in the eyes of the progressives they fed.

The lesson they are now painfully beginning to learn is that no matter how liberal you are, it will never be “progressive” enough for the progressives unless you are willing to take on the most radical ideas as your own and move permanently toward destroying what you yourself believed a few years earlier. That is what is implied in practice by the concept of progressivism, which, in political terms, is a permanent and unstoppable path of destruction of previous certainties.

Maybe 10 years ago, you were sufficiently egalitarian, vegetarian, feminist, and gluten-free, but now the same attitudes that made you advanced will become the pretext to condemn you as a racist, sexist or speciesist. And the only way to avoid this fate of opprobrium is to give permanent signs of absolute submission to those who set the pace of what is fashionable.

Wokes claim to be inspired by Luther King, but in reality, they are closer to the “Mean Girls” who control with an iron fist the high school dictating what is fashionable and what is not, while the rest of the students cling to stay in fashion, so as not to be expelled from the club of “popular kids.”

How to avoid this?

The first point is to understand that the horse of progressivism is running wild, and those who get on it without understanding what it is all about will end up disappointed and crushed. What drives this unbridled colt? Two things: A political ecosystem and the addictive feeling of struggle and liberation.

Wokes, by definition, will permanently launch themselves to new conquests, until the whole world is liberated (that is, deconstructed and in ashes). Their first enemies are the conservatives, but once they are done with them, or simply when they are bored, they have no qualms in directing their batteries against the liberals, because they also consider them oppressors.

If you are unwilling to completely surrender your opinion and mind to the totalitarian collectivism of progressivism, then stop playing into their hands and understand that to them you too are an enemy and a potential saucer. Just because they are too busy devouring someone else at the time, doesn’t mean you are safe.

In order not to be the dessert of this dinner, it is necessary to put a stop to the culture of cancellation and generate pressure in the opposite direction, so that those who (due to bureaucratic inertia or outright cowardice) play along with the woke mobs, realize that falling into cancel culture will also have consequences for them.

There is an urgent need for a consensus of sanity and certainty that sets aside the insanity of wokes and endorses the right to dissent without ceasing to exist. Otherwise, we will all remain on the menu.
