‘Your Freedom of Press Is Not Freedom to Lie’: MTG Fights Back Against Huffington Post’s ‘Nasty’ Lies

Georgia Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (MTG) caught the attention of the left-leaning HuffPost (formerly known as The Huffington Post) for lying that she was asking for support to assassinate Democrats in an ad.

In the spot, MTG invites its followers to compete for a helicopter flight to hunt wild pigs in Texas, since these animals are destroying farms and making the work of American farmers more difficult.

The congresswoman points out in her ad that inflation and high fuel prices are a consequence of Democratic policies, and that these also affect the work of farmers. She then adds that, besides the left’s policies, feral hogs destroy farms and suggests that hunting them is a way to help.

HuffPost Misrepresents MTG

The HuffPost appears to have interpreted the ad as an incitement to violence. “Marjorie Taylor Greene likens dems to hogs, wants help shooting them dead,” the outlet headlined in a bizarre misrepresentation of Greene’s words.

“HuffPost I demand you change this headline and your lies about me immediately. Your freedom of press is not freedom to lie about me. I NEVER said anything like this and did NOT call for violence on Democrats.”.

MTG warned that Lee Moran, author of the article, is a “political activist posing as a journalist” and should be fired immediately, as should the editor who allowed the lies about her to be published.

The congresswoman said she is “fed up” with journalists who engage in lying about Republicans in the media, calling them Nazis, fascists, and other “nasty” labels.

“There is not one single Republican that has ever aligned with Nazism, fascism, Marxism, socialism, communism, or any other awful political ideology,”, Greene said. “But I can’t say the same about Democrats, Hollywood elites, or the media. Your projection is becoming exposed.”

The Republican said HuffPost abuses its freedom of the press to lie, and that this “putrid” practice is why Americans trust the press less and less. “You don’t write or broadcast news, you write and broadcast lies,” MTG assailed.

She went on to lament that “responsible honest journalism” has been lost in American media culture and that “tragically” there are no journalists of “high character and moral ethics” who resist the “powerful temptation to lie.”

MTG did not clarify whether it will pursue legal action against HuffPost.
