PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN said Thursday that the opposition to his government is a danger to democracy, after calling members of the Republican Party and followers of former President Trump semi-fascists.
According to Biden, Trump and his followers, known as “MAGA” for the slogan Make America Great Again, do not respect the Constitution or the will of the people, as they reject the results of the 2020 elections won by Biden. Just as Hillary Clinton did in 2016 when Trump was elected.
“Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the foundations of our Republic,” Biden said emphatically.
Biden delivered this message in front of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a building considered the cradle of the country’s democracy for being the place where both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were signed. He did so with a dark and gloomy background that did not go unnoticed by anyone.

“As president, I will defend our democracy and I ask all Americans to join me,” exclaimed Biden, who seemed to imply with that phrase that dissent is undesirable.
Last week, Biden jumped right into the November congressional election campaign with a speech in Maryland, and on Tuesday, he held another fiery rally in the key swing state of Pennsylvania.
Over the past few days, Biden, and members of his administration, have called Republicans semi-fascists, and demonized opposition to his administration.
Prior to his speech, House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy demanded that Biden apologize for calling Trump supporters “semi-fascists” last week.
