FL GOV. Ron DeSantis responded to criticism from Democratic leaders for sending a pair of planes carrying 50 illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard, saying Joe Biden’s supporters said “not a peep” when the president relocated thousands of migrants around the country on secret flights.

During a press conference, a reporter asked DeSantis’ opinion on criticism from Democratic representatives, who have called him a “human trafficker” after he sent some migrants to the liberal sanctuary on Martha’s Vineyard.

“So when Biden is flying these people all over the fruited plain in the middle of the night, I didn’t hear a peep out of those people” DeSantis told the crowd. “I haven’t heard a peep about all the people that have been told by Biden [migrants] can just come in — and they’re being abused by the cartels. They’re drowning in the Rio Grande. You had 50 that died in some shed in Texas. I heard no outrage about any of that.”

DeSantis calls for attention to open borders policy

The governor also noted that Democrats have not complained about the influx of deadly drugs, such as fentanyl, across the southern border in the midst of the same crisis, nor about the influx of criminal migrants taking advantage of the Biden administration’s open border policies to commit crimes in the United States.

“The state of Florida […] offered transport to sanctuary jurisdictions because it’s our view that — one, the border should be secured, and we want to have Biden reinstitute policies like ‘Remain in Mexico’ and making sure that people aren’t overwhelming.” the Republican continued. “But, short of that, if you believe in open borders, then … the sanctuary jurisdictions that should have to bear the brunt of the open borders. So that’s what we’re doing.”

DeSantis indicated that, if 50 illegal immigrants represented such a “burden” to “one of the richest places in our country” that they had to “deport” them in less than 24 hours, it is necessary to reflect on the poorer border communities that must deal with the arrival of thousands on a daily basis.

He further noted that the Biden administration was given a secure border by former President Donald Trump, and that it has been his policies that have resulted in a massive and uncontrolled influx of illegal immigrants.
