Russians looking for plane tickets out of their country today found that there were no more tickets to Istanbul, Yerevan, Baku, or other destinations that do not require a visa, coinciding with President Vladimir Putin’s announcement of partial mobilization, according to media outlets such as RBC and The Moscow Times.

According to the search engines of Turkish Airlines, Azerbaijan Airlines and Armenia Air company, there were no flights for a few days or only in business class, says EFE.

According to The Moscow Times, tickets “were not available a few minutes after Putin’s announcement.”

By midday, direct flights to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan also disappeared from aggregators such as aviasales.ru.

According to the head of the Federal Tourism Agency, Zarina Dogúzova, there are currently no restrictions on Russians leaving the country due to the partial mobilization.

“I receive a lot of questions about going abroad under conditions of partial mobilization. According to our information, at the moment there are no restrictions on traveling abroad,” she wrote on her official Telegram channel.

Dogúzova indicated that “we have to wait for the relevant official clarifications. We have requested this information. We will promptly inform you of any changes.”

The first to be mobilized will be reserve non-commissioned officers under 35 and officers under 45, according to Andrei Kartapolev, head of the Defense Committee of the Duma, or chamber of deputies.
