The singer of the 70’s rock band Aerosmith, Steven Tyler is being sued for sexual assault of a minor. According to a new lawsuit, Tyler had an illegal affair with a 16 year-old a few decades ago, which ended with him insisting she abort their child.
The plaintiff/accuser, Julia Holcomb, previously went on record about her relationship with the singer in a 2012 interview and quotes directly from the singer’s 2011 memoir in the suit.
According to Rolling Stone, Holcomb first met Tyler just after her 16th birthday at the 1973 Aerosmith concert in Portland, Oregon. Tyler, then around 25 years old, allegedly brought Holcomb back to his hotel room. Holcomb alleges that Tyler then “performed various acts of criminal sexual conduct upon” her.
She also claims he continued to have sex with her after illegally flying her as a minor across state lines—a possible federal crime under the Mann Act—to Seattle for the band’s next show.
In 1975, when she was 17 years old, Holcomb says she became pregnant with Tyler’s son. According to her account, Tyler insisted for her to get an abortion after an apartment fire, saying that the unborn baby had suffered from a lack of oxygen—an allegation that was dismissed by a medical professional.
Holcomb says she was torn about terminating the pregnancy—but she finally gave in to Tyler’s demands when he threatened to totally cut her off.
The lawsuit accuses Tyler of sexual assault, sexual battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
