The 41,000 hours of CCTV footage captured during the incident at the US Capitol on January 6 have been made public thanks to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. Axios said that McCarthy’s transmission of the audio to Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson rather than the general public was an interesting narrative twist.
The co-founder of Axios, Mike Allen, stated on Monday: “Carlson TV producers were on Capitol Hill last week to begin digging through the trove, which includes multiple camera angles from all over Capitol grounds. Excerpts will begin airing in the coming weeks.”

Reps. Matt Gaetz of Florida and Lauren Boebert of Colorado, both Republicans, stated a few weeks ago that McCarthy had consented to make the footage available to the public.
Gaetz said that McCarthy made the pact in order to obtain his and Boebert’s support, two Republicans among the roughly 20 who withheld their backing for several days, depriving him the speaker’s gavel.
Rep. Boebert stated via Twitter: “Speaker McCarthy says he’ll be releasing ALL the footage from January 6th. Considering all the public has seen are edited clips from a bunch of Democrats with an axe to grind, it sure will be nice to get some unbiased footage.”
Also, two House Republicans have asked Democrat Rep. Nancy Pelosi to give a testimony on security lapses that took place on January 6, 2021, at the U.S. Capitol Building.
Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio said this in response to a study by House Republicans that described security lapses on that particular day at the Capitol:
“The reason there wasn’t a proper security presence on that day goes right to the speaker’s staff and the speaker’s office. As you go back and look at the communications, there’s this pattern that develops where the Sergeant of Arms is meeting with Pelosi’s staff. Many of those meetings, Republican staff wasn’t allowed to be there, but they had this pattern where everything had to run through her office, her staff, before the Sergeant of Arms could make a decision,”
Rep. Troy Nehls of Texas’s Republican Party responded similarly, saying, “And Nancy Pelosi. You do have questions you need to answer … Nancy, we’ll get you, and we’ll fly you back from Italy once you’re the ambassador,” Nehls quipped in reference to earlier rumors that said President Biden was considering offering Pelosi the position of U.S. Ambassador to Italy.

An passage from Christopher Miller’s latest book, “Soldier Secretary: Warnings from the Battlefield & the Pentagon about America’s Most Dangerous Enemies,” claims that Miller criticized Pelosi for her actions during the incident on January 6.
According to a report from the Daily Mail Miller vividly recounts the afternoon that Trump’s supporters stormed the Capitol to prevent the certification of the 2020 presidential election.
At the time, he was a harsh opponent of Mitch McConnell, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer, the leaders of both Democratic and Republican parties.
He said that while they asked to be informed of the status of the troops arriving at the Capitol, the politicians were ‘hyperventilating into the phone’. The report from the Daily Mail quotes:
‘At this point in time, I had been President Donald Trump’s Acting Secretary of Defense for approximately two months,’ he writes in the introduction to his book. ‘I had known when I took the job that it was going to be wild. But I never could have imagined anything like this—getting reamed out by a histrionic Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell as they implored me to send troops to forcibly expel a rowdy band of MAGA supporters, infiltrated by a handful of provocateurs, who were traipsing through the halls of the Capitol, taking selfies, and generally making a mockery of the entire institution.’
The report continues saying that video taken by Pelosi’s daughter Alexandra Pelosi for a documentary on her mother illustrates some of what Miller outlines in his book. After the Capitol was attacked, she depicts the members of Congress huddling together in a safe place.
When the Senate chamber had been invaded, Ryan McCarthy, the then-Army Secretary, had been contacted by Schumer at 3 p.m. to inform him that there were still senators sheltering in their Capitol offices who needed to be rescued.
That day, Pelosi and Schumer phoned the governor of Virginia, Ralph Northam, and the acting attorney general, Jeffrey Rosen, to request assistance. Miller was furthermore on their call list.
