Idiocy of the Week: Conversion Therapy for Jordan Peterson?

Leer en Español

Another arbitrary attack on Jordan Peterson stars in El American’s Idiocy of the Week. This time, the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO) wants Jordan Peterson to undergo a mandatory “coaching program” to improve his public speaking.

As Peterson posted on Twitter, he will have to “take a course of such training, with reports documenting my ‘progress,’ or face an in-person tribunal and suspension of my right to operate as a licensed clinical psychologist.”

According to Peterson, the College of Psychologists of Ontario informed him of this decision after receiving just a dozen complaints from people who felt “harmed” by some of his statements over the past four years. These people are not and have not been patients of Dr. Peterson, nor does he have any relationship with them, but would be people who claim that Peterson’s views cause harm to many people in general.

Despite the nonspecific and anecdotal nature of the accusations, the CPO seems to have taken the issue with great zeal, and has decided to set an example to mitigate the infinite damage caused by Peterson’s words, thoughts and opinions against some current psychological and psychiatric issues that are not at all pernicious and do no harm, such as, for example, diagnosing gender identity problems to everyone and immediately recommending to undergo hormone treatment and genital mutilation surgeries.

Although the very progressive College of Psychologists of Ontario is probably opposed to LGBT “conversion therapies,” it appears that its protective woke umbrella does not cover conversion therapies for conservatives. It remains to be seen what the training will consist of.

We do not know whether the College of Psychologists of Ontario intends this training to take place in a re-education camp, in the style of the Chinese and North Korean communist dictatorships, or whether they are considering the possibility of using some advanced and highly scientific psychological technique to get Jordan Peterson to start thinking better.

As a suggestion, and in accordance with the attitude taken by the CPO, we recommend the so-called Ludovico Technique, which consists of sitting Jordan Peterson in front of a movie screen, strapped in a straitjacket, with electrodes on his skull and his eyelids forced open by metal clamps, while a psychologist in a white coat pours drops of eye drops into his eyes so that he can watch scenes of ultraviolence under the effects of an experimental drug that would make him abhor these ideas.

Among the ultraviolent images that Peterson would be forced to watch, there could be his own interviews in which he argumentatively trashes feminists, screenshots of some of his lapidary tweets against wokeism, or videos in which he explains the miseries of leftism. All this interspersed with the What is a Woman? documentary, as well as interventions by his new boss, Ben Shapiro.

Another possibility would be to employ the Room 101 technique popularized by George Orwell’s 1984, the dystopian novel that seems to have become a leftist instruction manual. Using Big Brother’s newspeak, for the COP, Jordan Peterson would be guilty of having committed a “crimethink,” and something would have to be done with him.

We are sure that some of these cutting-edge therapies would get Jordan Peterson to start thinking “right” or, at the very least, at least stop publicly criticizing Justin Trudeau and the left.

If all else fails, and Jordan Peterson continues to refuse to obey and continues to open people’s eyes to the totalitarianism we suffer, the College of Psychologists of Ontario could opt for other more drastic and effective options, such as nailing splinters under his fingernails or delivering a dose of lead in 9mm capsules directly into his brain.

Anything to maintain the good name and scientific reputation of psychology and the illustrious, impartial, and apolitical College of Psychologists of Ontario. Better not to give them ideas, though.
