Last Friday, January 21, the FBI announced that it had found more classified documents in Joe Biden’s possession, this time at his home in Wilmington (Delaware). This is the fourth encounter of the authorities with this type of documentation, either in Biden’s offices or residences. While the president has been criticized by both Republicans and Democrats, one of the last to speak out on the matter was Bill Maher.
The popular host is known for not mincing his words, both to criticize Donald Trump and the progressive wing of the Democratic Party. Without leaving aside his animosity towards the former president, in the last year he lashed out against Gavin Newsom, the woke culture and even suggested replacing Kamala Harris.
On this occasion, he took a few minutes of his show Real Time with Bill Maher to address the issue of the classified documents in Biden’s possession. Specifically, he expressed his discomfort with the release of the news after the midterm elections, since it would have inevitably affected Democratic candidates across the United States.
“This documents thing — now look, was Biden shady with the documents? Absolutely. The fact that they found them before the midterm elections and they didn’t talk about it…” Maher began before one of his guests noted that the delay was “two months.” “Two months — OK, very shady,” added the popular TV host.
Maher, on the other hand, differentiated the cases of Donald Trump and Joe Biden, to later clarify that the damage to the current administration had already been done by the media.
“I call shady on both sides. Now, of course, it was very different. When Trump got caught with documents, he said, ‘I’m not gonna turn them over.’ He didn’t cooperate. Biden cooperated. But the fact that Hunter Biden was in the house was all a conspiracy theorist needs to know,” Maher added.
Fourth discovery of classified documents in Biden’s home
As confirmed by federal officials, the FBI conducted the 13-hour search of Biden’s Delaware home on Friday, where they found more classified material. The raid was pre-planned and consensual with the homeowner.
“DOJ took possession of materials it deemed within the scope of its inquiry, including six items consisting of documents with classification markings and surrounding materials, some of which were from the President’s service in the Senate and some of which were from his tenure as Vice President,” Bob Bauer, Biden’s personal attorney, commented on the matter.
“DOJ also took for further review personally handwritten notes from the vice-presidential years,” added Bauer, who specifically asked the White House not to comment on the search until it is over.
