Bill Maher on ‘Real Time’ dropped a killer one-liner this weekend on Trump-hater Rob Reiner about his ridiculous political views. Watch:
Maher’s guests in the segment included both Rob Reiner and U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN). The transcript for the hilarious exchange follows below:
Maher: Cool. Anything is justified in preventing them from taking office. Is it?
Reiner: No. No. You know, it’s not justified using armed violence to try to kill people in the capital. That’s not justified.
Maher: Answer this question,… The question is, was it appropriate to bury the Hunter Biden’s?
Reiner: You’re talking about the press doing that?
Maher: He’s saying that’s what they did. And that is what they did. They buried the Hunter Biden story before the election, because they were like, ‘we can’t risk having the election thrown to Trump. We’ll tell them after the election.’
Reiner: And we know for a fact that that’s what they did?
Maher: Of course! You don’t follow this?
Reiner: I’m saying, you know, for a fact that that’s what they did? I don’t know what they did.
Maher: I know, becauseyou only watch MSNBC.
Reiner:
Not true! That’s not true!Well then you would know about this.
Reiner: I do know about that.
Maher:
You’re acting like you don’t.Reiner: I do, I do know about that and I do watch Fox. But the point is you we’re going to prove now that, that, that… the press played… tried to…
Maher: They’re admitting it
Reiner: The press is admitting it?
Maher: Yes. That’s not even an issue anymore. They’re saying yes, we basically did this because we didn’t want this to throw the election. Yes?
Klobuchar: I don’t know that they’ve all said this and I, I believe, I believe strongly in the First Amendment…
Maher: Well, the New York times definitely did.
Klobuchar: My dad was a reporter, I believe in it. And I think you have to, you have to make sure that you’re treating people fairly. But I think Rob’s point here is that we are dealing with a man who used to be the president right now, who literally tried to lead an armed insurrection. And that’s why we’re so focused on this right now.
Beyond Maher’s one-liner that disarmed Reiner with a single quip, it is an outright lie that Donald Trump led an “armed insurrection.”
The political extremists who stormed the capitol did not have firearms when they were inside the capitol building. There was one person of interest who was armed, Antifa sympathizer John Sullivan, who carried a knife, and happened to catch the deadly shooting of Ashli Babbitt.
Furthermore, there is no intelligence or communications that implicate Donald Trump in having had anything to do with the storming of the capitol building. On the contrary, Donald Trump told those who attended his rally to “peacefully make their voices heard,” and the initial attack on the capitol was initiated before any of the political rally attendees could have reached the location.
